The 2019 Skilled Worker Shortage

Watch on YouTube

In 2019 83% of American businesses are having a hard time finding skilled workers.

To attract the best workers they’re having to offer better salaries and benefits.

If you want to get in on this you’ll have to be prepared, and that’s what we’ll be talking about today.

Recently a Guardian newspaper article explained how there is a shortage of skilled workers in the United States.

Businesses need workers so much now that they are being forced to make better offers to workers to get them to come work for them.

This includes more money, better benefits, and job stability for skilled workers.

The US jobs market has been growing rapidly and now it’s more difficult for employers to find good skilled employees.

Even jobs that pay a high salary are getting harder to fill now.

The trends say it’s only going to get harder for employers.

By 2029 nearly every state in the US will have a shortage of skilled workers.

That’s not good for them, but if you’re smart it will be great for you.

When employers have to compete it works out great for skilled workers.

Businesses are having to go out into the community and find people to work for them.

Then they’re offering to teach you how to do the job, plus give you the education you need to get even further ahead

On top of all this, they’re expecting you to stay on with the company for a long time, so you don’t have to worry about finding work

And then there’s the money. If the extra benefits aren’t bringing the workers in they have to open up their wallets.

This shortage of skilled workers is so bad right now they:

  1. Want to teach you how to do the job, or pay for your education to learn how
  2. They will to pay you while you’re learning the job
  3. They will pay you a lot of money
  4. They will offer you a stable reliable job

This sounds like an awesome deal, right?

But there’s a catch.

There’s a reason why these jobs are hard to fill.

This next sentence is a mouthful, so forgive me if i stumble over it.

The point they’re making is that the jobs are waiting for you, but only if you’re prepared.

For a bunch of reasons many people don’t develop the basic skills you need to do a technical job.

But being able to understand what you are doing is one of the skills of a skilled worker.

At the minimum you’re expected to know:

  • how to do math
  • how to read technical materials
  • how to listen and follow instructions, explanations, etc.
  • how to speak and give instructions, explanations, etc.

If you’re not learning this stuff in school start learning how to do it on your own.

You’ll be doing yourself a huge favor, and your future you will thank you for the effort.

If you’re a younger guy and you’re willing to put in the work now is the best time to be starting a career.

Get prepared to do the work, do a good job, keep everybody happy, build your skills for the future and you’re on your way.

Take advantage of this awesome opportunity.

Well that’s it for this time.
